Connecting Zapier with Platformly

If you want to connect Platformly to a service that we currently don’t have a native integration for, you can use Zapier.

Zapier combines Triggers (like "New Contact") and Actions (like "Create Contact") to complete an action in one app when a trigger occurs in another app. These combos — called "Zaps" — complete your tasks automatically.

The following Platformly Triggers and Actions are supported by Zapier:

Triggers:

New Tag
Triggers when a new tag is created.

New Contact
Triggers when a new contact is created.

New Segment
Triggers when a new segment is created.

New Custom Field
Triggers when a new custom field is created.

Actions:

Create Contact
Creates a new contact

Update Contact
Updates contact information

Add Tag to Contact
Adds one or multiple tag(s) to a contact

Add Contact to Segment
Adds a contact to one or multiple segment(s)

Remove Segment From Contact
Removes one or multiple segment(s) from a contact

Add Contacts to Platformly using Zapier Webhooks

In this example, we will show you how you can add contacts to Platformly using Zapier Webhooks as a Trigger.

Note: Following these steps, you can connect any service that supports Webhooks to Platformly.

As an example we will create a "ConvertBox -> Zapier -> Platformly" connection.

Step 1

Log into your Zapier account and click on Make a Zap! in the top menu.

Step 2

For the trigger app, select Webhooks. If you don’t see the Webhooks icon, you can type it in the search field.

Step 3

Select Catch Hook as the Webhook type and then click on Save + Continue.

Step 4

Next, Zapier will provide you with the option to Pick off a Child Key. This is optional and leaving this field empty will allow you to grab all the data that ConvertBox passes.

Leave this field empty and click on Continue.

Step 5

Zapier will now provide you with a Webhook URL. You are going to need this URL in the next step (inside the ConvertBox app) so click on Copy to clipboard.

Step 6

Add the provided Webhook to ConvertBox.

Keep the Zapier page open. In ConvertBox, select the form element you want to connect Zapier to.
Then in the left sidebar, click on the Setup form actions button.

Click on the Add a new form button.

Under the Use integration option, select Webhooks, then paste the Webhook URL copied from Zapier (Step 5) into the Webhook URL field and click on the Send test button.

You MUST click on the Send test button before proceeding or the following steps will not work in Zapier.
Wait for the test to send (it usually take 1-3 seconds) and then click on Add form action.

Your new Webhook action will now appear in your list of actions for this form.

Click on Done to close the modal and don't forget to click on Save to save the changes.

Step 7

Go back to the Zapier page and click on OK, I did this.

If your Webhook connection was successful, you'll see a success message in Zapier. Click on Continue to finish creating your trigger and move on to creating an action.

If you don't see this message after waiting a few minutes, go back to Step 6 and make sure you sent the test from ConvertBox, then come back to Zapier and select OK, I did this again.

Creating a Platformly Action

Now that you have successfully connected ConvertBox to Zapier, you're ready to configure Platformly to add a contact when a visitor subscribes.

Step 1

For the action app, select Platformly. If you don't see the application icon, you can type it in the search field.

Step 2

Select Create Contact as the Platformly action and then click on Save + Continue.

Step 3

Connect a Platformly Account or choose an existing one if you have done it before. Then click on Save + Continue.

Step 4

Connect the fields sent from the ConvertBox Webhook to the appropriate fields. Don't forget to fill out the Project ID field, then click on Continue.

Step 5

Send a "Test" to Platformly to make sure the Zapier connection is functional. If the test was successful, you will receive a message: Test was successful!

If you receive an error message, make sure your Project ID is the same than the Project ID of the connected account.

Once the test is successful. Click on Finish.

That is how you can connect any service that supports Webhooks to Platformly over Zapier.
